Challenge

Every year, a leading tier-1 automotive supplier attends CES to establish new and expand existing business relationships. They aim at convincing potential partners of their unique position in the car multimedia domain, by sharing and showcasing their remarkable long-term vision for the sector. For CES 2016, they wanted to reach this objective by building a demonstrator car that could be exposed to the public.

InnoTrip was very important for us to address our growth and profitability targets. The results were fantastic and form a benchmark within our group. A big success!

Approach

Venture Spirit identified and synthesized the key use-cases for the ‘car of the year 2025’ and we set up a brainstorming game, InnoTrip, focusing on user experience. In five parallel online creativity sessions, different use cases of tomorrow’s car were addressed, ranging from the car as a fun vehicle to drive, over the car as a convenient working space, to the car as a relaxing environment. The game outcome was integrated in the development unit in Palo Alto, resulting in the prototype demonstrated at CES 2016.

Results

InnoTrip was a success: the management was thrilled about the creativity, while the community was excited about the unique game experience and the opportunity to contribute to the future of the company. Over 300 employees actively contributed on top of their daily activities, creating more than 1000 ideas that were prioritized through more than 10 000 cross-organizational evaluations. 14 top ideas were selected to form the basis for the demonstrators at CES. Two top participants were awarded a ticket to CES as a recognition for their contributions.

The portfolio of ideas generated during this first InnoTrip edition allowed them to successfully showcase its technology leadership and innovative capabilities to the outside world. To coronate their efforts, Bosch received the CES 2016 Innovation Award in the ‘In-Vehicle Audio/Video’ category.
